About me
I have been practising yoga for over 12 years and I first came across Thai yoga massage when I watched a demonstration at the end of my yoga class. I was completely captivated by the graceful, dance-like quality of both giver and receiver, the way each movement flowed into another. This wasn’t massage as I had ever witnessed before and I longed to be on the receiving end of it. I signed up for a massage straightaway and very quickly decided that I wanted to learn how to introduce others to its amazing benefits.
I trained initially with Alexandra Schunemann in 2004, and then with Niclaire Skye at the British School of Thai Yoga Massage. This was a 10-month course with 178 contact teaching hours from 2 teachers to a group of only 7 students. After 100 hours of case-studies and 3 exams, I became a fully-qualified practitioner in 2007.
I then went on to study sports and remedial massage in Oxford with Pulse Training Systems, one of only five accredited schools in the UK that teach the prestigious BTEC professional diploma course. This qualification has become the benchmark for quality training, which includes advanced remedial massage techniques and assessment skills, and an advanced working knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Along the way I have added to my skills as a massage therapist, studying Thai Foot Massage, Thai Herbal Compress Massage and Hot Stones Massage.
I am a Registered Thai Therapist (RTT), belonging to THAI - an international body “that acknowledges, approves and endorses serious students, practitioners and teachers of traditional Thai therapy and Thai healing arts throughout the world”. I also belong to the Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage (ISRM), a body that provides a national register of fully qualified therapists to ensure that clients “are getting good quality treatment, by a therapist who has been professionally trained and receives ongoing support”.
